Our movers were kind, funny, and enjoyable to work with! Not only that, they went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with the move and had everything we needed. They alerted us to damages and were helpful in streamlining the process to get reimbursement for those. Overall, an excellent move!

Bottom line: once McCarthy has your money and your items, they don't seem to care about the contract or about actually getting your things on a truck on time. If communication and follow-through matter to you in an interstate move, look elsewhere. Do not use McCarthy's Movers if you're counting on them to go to bat for you in an interstate move. I paid them $1,600 to broker my move and arrange transport with National Van Lines, plus $170 a month for storage, and the communication after they had my items was some of the worst I've ever dealt with. My delivery window was supposed to be May 28–June 11. The month my stuff was scheduled for pickup, I accidentally missed my storage invoice. I own that part, I forgot about it. But I never got a call, a voicemail, or any heads-up from McCarthy telling me the invoice had to be settled before they'd release my things to National Van Lines. The first I heard of it was an email from Alyah on Friday, May 29. I paid it within six hours of receiving that email. That single delay, caused by their lack of communication, set off an avalanche of missteps. McCarthy never notified National Van Lines that my invoice was paid. After I called and sent two follow-up emails to confirm my things had been released, I was told the driver had already left and was no longer available but that my delivery date was still set for latest of June 11th. Then on June 10, one day before my delivery window was supposed to end, I checked in again. This time Alyah emailed me saying they'd notified National Van Lines but couldn't figure out why the movers hadn't come to pick up my belongings. I paid McCarthy specifically to handle this coordination, and it completely fell apart. On June 10, I finally called National Van Lines myself, and they told me McCarthy had changed my delivery window to June 19–July 2, something I never discussed with anyone and that appears in none of my contracts. Whether it was McCarthy or NVL bending the truth, I'll never know, but the communication broke down entirely. After that, Alyah stopped responding to me. I was handed off to Duke, their warehouse manager, who had only been there a couple of months and was clearly trying to piece together what was going on with the pickup. His eventual answer was that I had to call NVL myself. So I paid McCarthy to broker my move and ended up brokering it myself while my delivery dates got wrecked. I had high hopes after seeing all their great reviews, but this was ridiculous pricing for terrible service. As of now, I'm still waiting for my belongings, with National Van Lines telling me I won't get them until July 15, more than a month past my original window. I hold McCarthy responsible for this egregious delay.

Hands down the best moving company we’ve ever used (we’ve used many.) We hired them for two separate moves within one month, and both experiences were seamless. Their team was communicative, detail-oriented, and incredibly professional. Everything felt effortless on our end. I didn’t have to think or worry at all. They even helped us out by providing boxes at no cost in the beginning, which speaks volumes about how much they care. If you’re deciding between movers, choose this one. You won’t regret it.
