Working with Ben has been a great experience. He truly feels more like a business partner than just an architect. What’s most impressive is his speed, he responds in minutes and took care of our plans in a matter of a day. He is incredibly understanding of the pressure of running a business and moves fast to get things done right. Beyond his expertise, his pricing is very reasonable and not overpriced at all. We really couldn’t have done this without such a fast, fair, and skilled partner

If you're looking for an architect who is both skilled and affordable, Ben is your guy. He helped us navigate a very complicated plan check process with ease. His rates are very competitive and reasonable, and he was extremely kind to let us do installments, which helped us stay afloat while we waited for the city's approval. He’s very nice, easy to talk to, and genuinely wants to help his clients. 10/10!

I can’t recommend Ben enough for any architectural needs, especially if you’re navigating the complex permit process in Malibu. From the very beginning, Ben has been incredibly professional, attentive, and proactive. What truly sets him apart, however, is his genuine heart and empathy for his clients. My mother’s business had to be put on hold during this process, which was an unexpected and stressful time for our family. Ben didn’t just treat us like another project; he truly understood our situation. He worked tirelessly to resubmit plans and handle corrections as fast as possible because he genuinely wanted my mom to be able to get back to work and reopen her shop. It’s rare to find someone who takes your personal success so personally. Beyond his expertise, Ben’s pricing is very reasonable and fair, he is not overpriced at all, which is hard to find in this area. He was also incredibly helpful and understanding by allowing us to pay in installments while the business was closed. This financial flexibility was a lifesaver for us and showed his true character as someone who wants to help, not just make a profit. If you want an architect who is highly skilled, honest, and truly cares about your family and business, Ben is the one to call. We are so grateful for everything he’s done. Thank you Ben!

I contacted Ben in 2024 for an addition I wanted to do for my house. Ben came out, measured my existing home and we went to work on adding an 800 sq ft addition. Ben was pretty responsive throughout the entire process. I live in Orange County so the county required a lot of extra things that many cities may not require. Ben was able to get through all of those hurdles that Orange County required. I contacted 7-8 different architects before hiring Ben. Price-wise, Ben's pricing is very competitive for what you are getting for his work. My framers and contractors had questions while we were constructing our addition and Ben always picked up my phone call whenever we had any questions. I can say most architects would never let me bug them that much haha. My wife and I knew exactly what we wanted and Ben made it come to life. We were so happy with his work that we also hired him to work on a front patio. I will post pictures as I complete my addition and front patio.

Disclaimer: I have been personally threatened by Benjuro if I post this review (and I have seen him threaten, ridicule, and dox other clients on this site, but we want to share our experience since we would have wanted this information before deciding to hire him. We hired him based on his good reviews; I am not sure if all his positive reviews are real, but they are the opposite of our experience. In summary: Benjuro’s communication is disastrous. His emails frequently do not make sense. His attention to detail is lacking, and he left key details out of our plans. When asked about these things, he immediately jumped to threatening and insulting us. We hired Benjuro to develop plans for a remodel and ADU in 2021. He came out to the property and did initial measurements for the plans. He did get a set approved by the city, but we decided not to move forward with the plans at the time. early this year we were ready to do the interior remodel. We reached back out to Benjuro, asking if he would be willing to resubmit them to the city. He agreed to do so for an extra fee, which we paid. He did not follow the terms of his own contract as far as itemizing extra charges, but just asked us for extra money as he went. When contractors looked at his plans, they pointed out multiple oversights—he had put a window behind the toilet that went below the level of the toilet, had failed to mark a former exterior wall, and either didn’t mark or incorrectly placed major utility spots (electric meter, water heater, gas line). When we pointed these out, he fixed them—all for extra fees. Throughout this process, his communication was atrocious, and frequently incoherent. We tried to speak to him on the phone, thinking perhaps verbal communication would be easier, but he refused. We thought about giving up and working with a new (actual) architect, but we had spent so much at that point we decided to try to just figure it out. He never sent us a printed copy of the plans despite multiple requests. His plans were finally approved by the city and we started construction. The final straw came when it turned out he had placed a window directly where the electrical meter was on the house, as he didn’t know where it was, having marked it in a random spot on the plans. When we asked him why he had put a window where the electrical meter was, he said we should have known that and told him since he “didn’t live in the house.” He suggested moving it over—directly to where the water heater, which he also hadn’t marked and didn’t know the location of—was on the wall. Then he claimed moving an electrical panel was no big deal (it’s incredible expensive and not an easy process, as 4 different electricians as well as 3 contractors told us). As stated before, we are not contractors or architects and thought we had hired someone who would know more about these things. We asked him to simply refund the extra money we’d paid him to add the window that he placed over the electrical panel and we’d part ways. This was the point at which he became belligerent, sending multiple emails in a row, yelling, threatening to sue us for defamation if we posted a review, going on incoherent rants, telling us “my father doesn’t like people lying to his son about unprofessional” (sic). He has threatened to call our jobs, claimed we’re not allowed to make complaints to the BBB, and accused us of extortion. If you want someone with clear communication and attention to details who doesn’t resort to threatening his clients—I’d recommend avoiding Benjuro. I’d give him 0 stars if at all possible.
